Key Requirements
You must be prepared with:
☑ Completed Dual Citizenship Application Form
☑ Passport-size photographs (as per specifications)
☑ Sri Lankan Passport (bio-data page)
☑ Foreign Passport (bio-data page – must be valid)
Civil Documents:
☑ Birth Certificate
☑ Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
☑ Citizenship Certificate (if applicable)
Police Clearance:
☑ Australian Federal Police (AFP) clearance certificate (must be valid/recent)
📋DFAT Authentication Requirement (Important)
Documents issued in Australia must be:
- Notarised / Certified by a Justice of the Peace or Notary Public, and then
- Authenticated or Apostilled by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)
This applies to documents such as:
- Birth Certificates
- Marriage Certificates
- Police Clearance Certificates
- Statutory Declarations
Important:
- Documents not authenticated by DFAT may not be accepted in Sri Lanka
- Ensure certification is completed before attending your appointment
Eligibility Categories
Applicants must qualify under one of the approved categories, such as:
☑ Age above 55 years
☑ Academic / Professional qualifications
☑ Ownership of property/assets in Sri Lanka
☑ Fixed deposits or investments
☑ Other approved eligibility pathways
Financial / Supporting Evidence (if applicable):
Depending on your eligibility category, you may need:
☑ Property documents / valuation reports
☑ Bank confirmation letters
☑ Investment or treasury bond documentation
Important Conditions
⚠ Bring all original documents + 1 set of A4 photocopies
⚠ Foreign documents must be properly certified and DFAT authenticated
⚠ Translations are not accepted in place of originals
⚠ Incomplete documentation may result in delays or rejection
